Roofing Estimate Checklist: What a Good Quote Should Explain
Use this checklist to compare roofing proposals on scope, materials, allowances, warranties and contractor responsibilities.
Scope of removal and installation
The proposal should make clear what is being removed, what new roofing system is being installed, and how transitions, penetrations and flashing are handled.
Unknown conditions and allowances
Ask how damaged decking or other concealed conditions are priced if discovered after tear-off. Clear allowances reduce surprises.
Jobsite responsibilities
Confirm debris removal, property protection, cleanup, access, material delivery and who is responsible for permits or inspections where required.
Warranty details
Separate manufacturer coverage from contractor workmanship coverage. Ask what registration or maintenance requirements apply and get important promises in writing.
